Tanya and Saumya Datta, daughters of Drs. Rajiv and Arti Datta from Long Island, NY, had their Bharatanatyam Arangetram on October 24th at the Hindu Temple Auditorium in Flushing, NY. Manjula and Sudhir Naik from Pennsylvania had a baby daughter, Jiya, on Oct. 29, 2009. Baby Jiya joins big brother Akul (age 9) in the Naik family.

The 2009 Chicago bunts picnic was held at the Twin Lakes recreational area (Palatine, IL) on September 5, 2009. Congratulations to Nina Mardi who completed the Detroit marathon! Nina not only ran the marathon (about 26 miles) but finished it in an impressive 4 hours and 5 minutes! Seattle area Bunts got together on July 26, 2009, for their annual summer picnic at Magnuson Park on the shores of Lake Washington. They enjoyed great company, good food and played competitive cricket and lagori. Kids and adults alike escaped the 90 degree heat by taking a dip in the lake.
