In Loving Memory of Mr. Harischandra S. Shetty

With profound sadness and a heavy heart, the Bunts Association of North America (BANA) mourns the passing of our longtime community member, Mr. Harischandra S. Shetty of Oak Ridge, New Jersey, who passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 87.

Mr. Harischandra Shetty and his family were among the early members of the BANA community, and his life reflected the courage, determination and pioneering spirit of a generation that helped establish and strengthen our Bunt community in North America.

Born on May 23, 1939, Harischandra earned a degree in Fine Arts from the J.J. School of Arts in Mumbai, India. In September 1970, he came to the United States to further his studies in graphic design. His journey eventually led him into business and entrepreneurship, where he built a successful life through hard work, adaptability and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. He became a pioneer in the video rental industry, owning and operating several video stores throughout Northern New Jersey from the 1980s through the early 2000s. From his artistic beginnings in Mumbai to establishing a life and family in America, his journey was one of perseverance, enterprise, and accomplishment.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ahalya H. Shetty.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Rashmi Shetty of Pennsylvania, his son, Rohan Shetty of New Jersey, son-in-law, Dr. Jagadish Shetty, daughter-in-law, Stacey Shetty, grandchildren, Aishan, Tiana, Prihana, Kristen, and Antonio and grandson’s wife, Bhumi.

On behalf of the entire BANA family, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to the entire family. We are grateful for Harischandra Shetty's connection to our community and will remember with respect the generation of members like him who helped build the foundation upon which BANA continues to grow today.

A private cremation ceremony will be held on August 23, 2026, with immediate family.

Harischandra Anna, you will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever remain a cherished part of our BANA family and its history.

May his noble soul rest in eternal peace.
