A Daughter Remembers. A Community Remembers. BANA Remembers.
Twenty-five years have passed since September 11, 2001. Yet for the families who lost someone they loved, some memories never fade and some absences are felt forever.
On this solemn 25th anniversary of 9/11, the Bunts Association of North America (BANA) joins our nation and communities in remembering the nearly 3,000 lives lost that tragic morning. Today, our hearts especially turn to Deepa K. Pakkala, whose life was taken far too soon at the World Trade Center.
Deepa was just 31 years old. She was a devoted wife, a young mother, a hardworking professional, and an active member of the BANA family who was involved in and contributed to the community.
She was working as a consultant at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Her daughter, Trisha Pakkala, was only eight months old when she lost her mother.
For the BANA community, Deepa’s memory carries a special meaning. She was one of our own, a valued part of the BANA family whose involvement, connections and community spirit are remembered with great respect and affection.
25 Years Later, Her Daughter Remembers
This year, as America marks a quarter-century since 9/11, hearing Trisha remember the mother she barely had the opportunity to know brings a deeply human and emotional dimension to this tragedy.
At today’s 25th-anniversary commemoration at Ground Zero, Trisha spoke in remembrance of her mother. In a few deeply moving words, she captured a lifetime of love, loss and longing:
“You dreamed my whole life for me, and you only got eight months of it.”
Her words remind us that behind every name and every life lost on September 11 is a family, a story, and a love that continues across generations.
BANA Remembers
On this solemn milestone, BANA remembers Deepa K. Pakkala and every innocent life lost on September 11, 2001.
We remember the families who have carried their loved ones in their hearts for 25 years. We remember the courage and sacrifice of the first responders. And we honor the strength and resilience of all those whose lives were forever changed that day.
May Deepa’s memory and the memories of all those we lost, continue to live through their families, their stories and the generations that follow.
