In Loving Memory of Smt. Lata B. Shetty: Founding Member of BANA and A Life of Giving

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Smt. Lata B. Shetty. who attained Sadgati on Wednesday, January 7th 2026. A compassionate and selfless soul, she dedicated her life to serving others through countless charitable endeavors.


While living in New York, she devoted her free time to making blankets for injured veterans.

As one of the founding members of BANA, her dedication and service helped shape the strong foundation upon which BANA proudly stands today, as it approaches its 25th milestone celebration.


In North Carolina, she was actively involved in the Comfort Heart Movement, lovingly knitting hearts for premature babies and offering comfort to their parents during difficult times. Her generosity of spirit and dedication to service touched many lives.

In her final act of kindness, Lata gave the gift of life as an organ donor, helping others live on through her legacy of compassion.


She is survived by her devoted husband, Bhaskar H. Shetty, her loving children, Sanjay and Nitin, her daughter-in-law, Arathi, and her grandchildren, Neeya, Aanya, and Dhilan. She is also fondly remembered by her beloved brothers, Sudarashan and Balachandra, along with extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory close.


Lata B. Shetty’s life was defined by kindness, service and love. Her legacy continues in the many hearts she touched and the lives she uplifted.
